Busy Weekend

Well, it was a busy weekend in the news.

I hope OJ Simpson and Salley Fields did not tie up to much of your attention.

There was some "real" news happening too.

President Bush picked Former federal judge Michael Mukasey to replace Alberto Gonzales as attorney general:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former federal judge Michael Mukasey, picked by President Bush to replace Alberto Gonzales as attorney general, appears unlikely to face a bruising confirmation battle in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Mukasey handled high-profile terrorism cases as chief judge of the federal courthouse in Manhattan for six years. His selection was to be announced by Bush at midday Monday in a Rose Garden ceremony.

Mukasey, 66, currently serves as a judicial adviser to GOP presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani.

The New York native has received endorsements in the past from liberals, including one of the Senate's most liberal Democrats. And while some legal conservatives have expressed reservations about his record on the federal bench, other conservatives are happy about the decision.

I would have preferred for Olsen to have been selected. The Democrats are getting quite a name for not being "team players", and the fight that would have taken place would have added to this perception.

Also, Hillary will present her health care proposal today:

DES MOINES, Iowa - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton is unveiling a sweeping health care proposal Monday that would require everyone to carry health insurance and offer federal subsidies to help reduce the cost of coverage.

Fulfilling a pledge to bring health care to all, Clinton's "American Health Choices Plan" has a price tag of about $110 billion per year. It represents her first major effort to achieve universal health coverage since 1994, when the plan she authored during her husband's first term collapsed.

It is funny that she will propose this socialistic plan on Constitution day.

Actually, the Sally Field story deserves to be played up. There's too much of this celebrity antiwar activism, most of it really dumb.

No, we don't like you! We really don't like you!

There is no doubt that too much of this goes on. I don't call it "real news", because these people live in "fantasy land".
