Mitt To Endorse McCain

Not surprising:

AP Video Republican campaign dropout Mitt Romney agreed Thursday to endorse Sen. John McCain for the party's presidential nomination and ask his national convention delegates to swing behind the party front-runner, according to officials familiar with the decision.

I have contended from the start that the gap between Romney and McCain was pretty narrow. I did vote for Mitt in the primary, simply because he was the only one left that could possibly convince me he was going to act like a conservative. He had not convinced me when he dropped out though. I think all the hoopla about him being the "most" conservative one was wishful thinking. When Thompson and Hunter left the race, so did conservative principals. Except for Paul who is scary as hell when it comes to foreign policy.

I still will not vote for McCain. I know the argument - Anyone is better than he Democrats. I am not so sure McCain would be that much better. Look, a lot of people are saying that we need McCain because of the war. I do not think any of the three candidates with a chance to win are going to be that quick to pull out. I know, I know; Obama says he will. That is pandering. None of them are going to want to be the one that surrenders to the terrorists. Especially when things are going as good as they are. They may use it to get votes, but things change when it is your presidency that takes the hits.

That being said, I am not under the impression that the Dems are not going to screw things up. But I will remind you, McCain wants to shut down Gitmo. He don't want water boarding. This is where I differ from most people. If torturing someone will save one innocent life I am all for it. Not just water boarding either. Pull out the good stuff. You know, he stuff you see on these crazy movies and TV shows. These people will do anything possible to hurt us. We need to use anything possible to ensure they are not given the chance.

Sorry, back to the main topic. Romney is endorsing McCain. McCain is not at all concerned with what conservatives hold dear. It has come out today that McCain is good on taxes. That is good. He wants to cut spending. That is great. I will give him credit where it is due. But he will pull the party further to the left and I can not support him.

Mitt Romney has decided to suspend his campaign:

John McCain effectively sealed the Republican presidential nomination on Thursday as chief rival Mitt Romney suspended his faltering presidential
campaign.

It looks like the illegals are going to be happy.

Get involved in the local races for Congress and your State. We need as many people as we can to fight off what is coming.

It is a sad day for America.

Super Tuesday

It's here. The big day. This last couple of weeks have been hard on me. As you all know I do not support any of the candidates that are still in the race.

So I have to decide which one is going to do the least amount of damage to the party. That is the reason I will be voting for Romney today. I still am not excited about it, but at this moment I feel I have to try to help stop McCain.

That being said, I am still not sure I will vote for Romney in the general election. He still hasn't proven to me that he is what he says he is. There is time for him to prove this to me but he will have to convince me that he is not another RINO. Right now that is the impression I get. Why I will exept him over McCain is that McCain has left little doubt about the fact that he is a RINO.

More than likely I will be writing in a candidate in November. If the President of this country is going to lead like a Democrat, then let them BE a Democrat. That way I can raise cain about it and not feel bad because I voted for them.

Pick One: Romney, Clinton, McCain, Obama

It looks likes it is a four way race for the Presidency.

Giuliani and Edwards are calling it quits.

Well here we go again, which one is the lesser of the four evils?

It looks like that may be Romney. But will enough conservatives get excited about Mitt? The answer is no.

The problem is; if the conservatives do not get motivated come November the Republican nominee will not win. Hillary and Obama are having a lot of success getting people to the polls. When one of these two get the nod the Dems will rally behind them to try and defeat their real enemy, Republicans.

The problem for the Republicans is this; we have been doing this an awful lot lately and many of us are getting tired of carrying water for people, only to have them slap us in the face while in office. I am almost positive McCain would carry his "face-slapping gloves" with him at all times. Can Romney be trusted not to "slap" us around too? I would have to answer no. Truth be told I think he is probably not much better, if any better than McCain at all. In my opinion he says whatever it is he thinks you want to hear. While running for Governor he wasn't all that different from the Dems. Now that he is going for the Republican nomination he seems to be more conservative. Would the real Mitt Romney please stand?

As far as looking at the Democratic candidates. I know that I disagree with them on every major issue, as well as %99.999 of the small ones. That is why I really don't talk about them yet. Right now they are infighting within the Democratic party. That is a place I would prefer to stay away from. Don't worry I will get to them before the general election rolls around. I am glad to see more than a few Dems realize how pathetic Bill Clinton is though.

What to do? I just don't know.

Romney would ban "Weapons Of Unusual Lethality"

Romney has a habit of flip flopping on the issues. He is not doing that here. He will support gun bans. He talks a good game, but he will not stand up to the anti-gun crowd.

What is a weapon of unusual lethality?

What gun could be described by this statement?

All guns can be described with that statement. Any gun can be used in a lethal manner.

Terms such as this are used to mask a candidates true feelings on an issue.

My Assessment Of The Republican Candidates

I would like to take this opportunity to give you my assessment of how each of the five top Republican candidates compare(in my mind). Which, I may add, is a scary place.

Not in any specific order. You already know who I support. If not, just look to the left side of your screen.

Rudy Giuliani:

He did a good job with 911. I like the fact that he would be tough on the war. Although not any more so than most of the Republicans. One of Rudy's favorite talking points is the job he did with crime in New York. I can respect that. He added a bunch of cops that really helped slow the crime rates in a city that had an awful reputation for being dangerous. Those are the good.

One thing he did to help with the reduction of NY's crime rate was gun control. This did nothing to slow the crime rate. I can support no person that is for gun control. He tried to smooth this over by saying that NY should have different gun laws than the rest of the country because it is NY. The last time I checked NY is in the USA. That means they are governed by the same Constitution as the rest of us, even us hillbillies. Then there is his liberal views on practically everything else: abortion, gay marriage, etc...

It has come out in the past few weeks that he bent the rules quite a bit while he was prosecuting crime. I am all for putting criminals behind bars, but legally and ethically.

I do not see putting a guy that has almost the same views as the leading Democratic candidates up front in the Republican party.

I don't think Rudy would be able to beat Hillary or Obama. To many defectors would stay at the house next November.

Mitt Romney:

Mitt seems to be a pretty sound conservative. At least on the surface. He has leadership experience and is a successful business man.

I think he has flopped on way too many issues. He has really played up his time as governor of one of the most liberal states in the US, with health care that is real close to the plan Hillary has laid out. I don't know what it is but I just can't bring myself to trust the man.

I think he would give Hillary or Obama a run for their money.

John McCain:

He is one of the most socially conservative candidates in the race. You can't help but like his humor and respect what he has done for this country.

As much as I do like about John I will not be able to forgive him for what he put us through with immigration. He has a quick temper and I don't think that is a good quality for the President of the US. Another thing we have not heard about with John is campaign finance. Sure we have heard that Fred supported it, but John's name is on it.

He could run neck and neck with the Democrats. I think he is a little weaker than Romney against them though.

Mike Huckabee:

A social Conservatives dream. He is a likable guy and presents himself well.

He has some major problems with his positions on big government and taxes. I think a lot of people, including myself are just getting to know him.

I am still a little up in the air as to his chances to win. I will hold off on my opinion right now. More on Mike in the following weeks.

Fred Thompson:

Fred is not the most conservative person in the race. He supported campaign finance at the time. He has since admitted that to be a mistake. But he is the all around best candidate the Republicans have.

I know, I know he is lazy right. BS! You can not accomplish all this man has and be lazy. What does it say about a candidate when after 6 to 8 months of scrutiny by numerous presidential campaigns this is what you here about? Well over half the negative stuff you hear about him is this "he's lazy" crap.

He can beat Hillary and Obama.
