Ahmadinejad Wants Israel Moved

Ahmadinejad condemned "the atrocities of the Zionist regime against the oppressed Palestinian people," the IRNA news agency reported Friday.

According to the regime's mouthpiece, the president suggested holding a referendum on the transfer of Israel's Jews to Europe, Canada or Alaska.

"Let a referendum be held in Palestine. It is our clear proposal to European countries," Ahmadinejad said during the International Quds (Jerusalem)
Day rallies in Tehran.

"Let all Palestinians including Muslims, Christians and the Jews attend the referendum," he added.

IRNA said Ahmadinejad repeated an earlier suggestion to Europe on the "settlement of Zionists in Europe or in big lands such as Canada and Alaska so they would be able to own their own land".

Ahmadinejad further stated that "the creation of the Zionist regime, the continuation of its existence and unlimited support for the regime (by the US) are an insult to human dignity."

"Defense for the ominous interests of the Zionist regime is a must for certain powers. Western governments who are pioneers of secularism pursue defense for the Zionist regime as the holiest task in the world," the president was quoted as
saying.

Fred Has Raised $12.7 Million And Has Not Spent A Dime On Advertising

The Thompson for President campaign will show total donations of more than $12.7 million in its first report to be filed this month with the Federal Election Commission. Sen. Thompson has received donations from more than 80,000 supporters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and has $7 million cash on hand.

"The financial support Sen. Thompson has received from more than 80,000 donors demonstrates his huge grassroots appeal for Republicans who've been waiting for an authentic conservative to enter the race for president," said campaign manager Bill Lacy. "We feel great about future fundraising, knowing there's a big well of support to go back to, since people who've given once are likely to give again."

The average dollar donation to the campaign is $176, with 22,000 donors contributing online and 200,000 Friends of Fred signing up online to support the campaign.

The total raised for the third quarter filing (July 1st - September 30th) is $9.3 million. Since Sen. Thompson officially declared his candidacy on September 5th, the campaign has raised an average of $200,000 per day.

"Some of the other campaigns have spent tens of millions of dollars so far, only to lose support among voters; yet, Fred is running strong in most of the early primary states without having spent a dime on advertising," noted Lacy. "We are on plan and will have the funding we need to get Fred's message to voters."

The filing covers all donations received to date by the campaign, from June 4th through September 30th.

Democrats Don't Want A Change In The Elecoral College System After All

Remember after the last election cycle. All the Democrats could talk about was how bad the electoral college was. They are singing a different tune now:

A Republican push to change America's historic voting system is faltering after a fightback by Democrats fearful that it could cost them the 2008 presidential election.

Republican activists in California, the most populous state in the country, have set in motion a proposal to change the law to end the winner-takes-all electoral college system.

The change, if it went through, would effectively hand the next election to the Republicans.

California has gone Democratic in every election since 1992, providing a bloc of 55 electoral votes, about one fifth of the 270 needed to win the presidency.

The Republicans are proposing that instead of all the electoral votes going to the winner, the 55 votes be allocated on a Congressional district basis, which would give the Republicans around 20, almost certainly enough to secure the White House.

The electoral college system, in use for more than 200 years, has become increasingly contentious, particularly since 2000, when George Bush won the presidency in spite of Al Gore securing a majority of the popular vote.

Political scientists and historians are divided over the pros and cons of the system. Sympathisers argue that it provides a degree of stability while opponents claim it can run counter to the wishes of the electorate.

The Republicans have filed to have their proposal put to a ballot in June next year. But first they have to collect 434,000 signatures by November 29 this year.

If Californians then voted in the ballot for the change, the new rules would apply in November's presidential election.

I am not a big fan of this. I would like to keep this country the way the founders intended.

It would hurt the Dems a lot though, wouldn't it?

And HuffPo smears Fred:

Former senator Fred Thompson continues to be his own worst enemy on the path to the White House. Thompson's appearance last weekend at the annual conference hosted by Teddy Forstmann in Aspen was "embarrassing," several attendees have told the Huffington Post, as he botched current events questions and suffered from verbal gaffes.

Amid a gathering of high-profile media, business, and government figures, Thompson made the strange claim that the Islamic group Hezbollah is in Afghanistan (it's based and run out of Lebanon).

Does Fred not know where Hezbollah is located? Of course he does:

Thompson said military action is not “the first thing that ought to be thrown out for consideration.” But, he later added, “ultimately you cannot take the military option off the table. You’re dealing with a country where terrorism and state sponsorship go hand in hand. They’re responsible for many of the activities of Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Taliban now in Afghanistan… not to mention what they’re doing in Iraq.”

I love the fact that things like this are all they can find to use against him.

CNN Weatherman: Considers 'An Inconvenient Truth' Fiction

From CNN, of all places:

CNN reported on Thursday that a British judge has called Al Gore's Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth unfit for schools "because it is politically biased and contains scientific inaccuracies and sentimental mush." British schools may now have to preface any showing of the film with a warning.

CNN meteorologist Rob Marciano responded to this story by applauding and saying,"Finally, finally," before commenting sarcastically that "the Oscars, they give out awards for fictional films as well."

Marciano said he objected in particular to the film's claim that global warming causes stronger hurricanes, noting that the current hurricane season has only been average.

I didn't think CNN would allow one of their employees to go after Gore. He may need a job soon.

Last Word On The "Rush" Mess

WASHINGTON – In a prelude to likely efforts to legislate the Fairness Doctrine in 2009, Democratic Party leaders in the Senate, including the party's likely presidential nominee next year, Sen. Hillary Clinton, are turning up the heat on Rush Limbaugh's network, attempting to force him to apologize for maligning antiwar soldiers as phonies – something he didn't say.

On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid sent a letter, signed by 41 Democrats, to Clear Channel Chief Executive Officer Mark P. Mays demanding he repudiate Limbaugh's comments and extract an apology from him. Mays responded the same day in a letter to Reid defending Limbaugh's right to express his opinions openly on the airwaves.

But Reid is not dropping the matter.

In an e-mail to Democrats today, he urges the public to inundate Mays with similar demands.

"I normally ignore Rush Limbaugh, but his comments last Wednesday went too far for me to remain silent," Reid wrote. "It's one thing to call me 'Dingy Harry' – it's another to insult our men and women in uniform, calling those who oppose the war 'phony soldiers,' as Rush did during his Sept. 26 broadcast."

None of the calls for repudiation or apology, however, contain a transcript of Limbaugh's remarks. That's because other than the two words "phony soldiers," it wouldn't be possible to make the case that Limbaugh was maligning antiwar soldiers generally. He was, in the context of Wednesday's commentaries, specifically addressing the case of Jesse MacBeth, an antiwar activist who claimed to have witnessed atrocities as a Purple Heart recipient in the Army Rangers.

MacBeth, however, never served in Iraq. He was expelled from the military after 44 days in uniform.

"He became a hero to the anti-war left," explained Limbaugh. "They love phony soldiers, and they prop 'em up. When it is demonstrated that they have been lying about things, then they just forget about it. There's no retraction; there's no apology."

Hey Democrats, get your heads out of your asses! That is all.

George Soros Must Be Seething Mad

It has not been a good couple of weeks for Moveon.org:

Yesterday, the Senate unanimously approved the FY 2008 Intelligence Authorization Act. The bill authorizes all expenditures for intelligence related activities and gives Congressional approval to all of it’s heretofore most controversial programs.

By agreeing to the bill, unanimously, which cannot be stressed enough, Senate Democrats had to swallow some bitter pills. One, they had to drop their demand that the White House turn over all Presidential Daily Briefs between 1997 and 2003. So much for Bush Lied!™. Two, they had to agree to drop a provision that would have required the Director of National Intelligence to assess the impact of climate change on US national security. Sorry, Mr. Gore.

But worst of all for Democrats is the fact that they have now given their assent to the Bush Administration’s most hated intelligence programs by throwing money at them. Warrantless wiretapping, it’s funded. Rendition, funded. Aggressive interrogations, ca-ching! In other words, they’re no longer the president’s “torture interrogations,” They’re the Senate’s as well.

If Democratic Senators think they can hide from their radical left wing base and MoveOn.org types by quietly passing this bill and slipping it back into the House passed version as an amendment, which is what they did, they may find that they are sadly mistaken. Just look at what Democrats have forced down their lefty power base’s throat in just the last few weeks.

Strike one was allowing Senate Republicans to force a vote on a resolution condemning MoveOn.org’s attack on Gen. David Petraues. Remember that in the process of voting for that resolution, the Senate defeated a companion resolution by Sen. Barbara Boxer that would have similarly condemned the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ads against Sen. John Kerry and a television ad run against the left’s favorite veteran, former Sen. Max Cleland.

Strike two was a Senate vote to authorize $150 billion in funding for the Iraq War. Granted, no funds have actually been allocated as yet and Democrats still have a chance to force some politically uncomfortable votes for Republicans on that measure. But the vote on the authorization bill was 92-3. Senate Democrats went down virtually without a fight. Only Feingold and Sen. Robert Byrd had the courage to vote against the bill. Since a no vote on this resolution would have given Democrats a chance to speak their disapproval of the continuance of the war without actually denying money to the troops, they could’ve thrown their lefty groups a bone and marshaled 20 or 30 safe Democrats to vote no on principle.

Strike three could be this action on the Intelligence Authorization.

Senator Reid likes to say that Iraq has become “the Senate Republicans’ war,” because Republicans refuse to go along with Democrat resolutions to prevent the military from completing its mission there. By that same logic, Senate Democrats now have ownership over wiretapping, rendition, “torture,” and any other intelligence programs that the left has spent four years condemning. Sauce for the goose and all that.

I'm sure a unanimous vote for the FY 2008 Intelligence Authorization Act was not what the radical left was looking for.

I am beginning to like ol' Dingy Harry in his Senate leadership roll. He may just do more for the right than the RNC.

Access to affordable, portable health care can be made available for all Americans without imposing new mandates or raising taxes. Current government programs must also be streamlined and improved so that those who truly need help can get the health care they need. I am committed to a healthcare system that:

*Realigns programs and creates a system around individual consumers and patients by providing more information and more opportunities to choose affordable health care options that best meet their needs and those of their families.

*Improves the individual health of all Americans by shifting to a system that promotes cost-effective prevention, chronic-care management, and personal responsibility.

The first sentence is important: "Americans have the best healthcare in the world." This is true, and we benefit from this fact. If the government takes over the healthcare system we are going to lose a major benefit we have in this country.

Take a look at the countries that have national healthcare and tell me you honestly want our heathcare to resemble theirs.

Not to mention the cost on the American taxpayers.

Middle Tennessee State University Students To Vote On Allowing Guns On Campus

Members of the Student Government Association of MTSU will vote on a proposal today to allow students to carry guns on campus although state law forbids guns on campus.

Mathew Hurtt wants to protect students’ constitutional rights and wants students to be able to protect themselves by allowing them to carry guns on campus.

“The constitution says it’s the right of the people to bear arms,” Hurtt said. “It shall not be infringed. It doesn’t say except on college campuses. There are no exceptions. People assume it’s going to be like the ‘wild wild west’ if we allow guns, that’s just not the case".

I can't wait to find out how this vote goes.

I am sure they will have to overcome many obstacles to make this to happen. I also feel it is a much needed step in protecting our students.

Charlie Rangel Is Looking For A "Tax Fight"

We have long known that Chairman Charlie Rangel, the leading Democrat on the Ways and Means Committee, would attempt to raise your taxes this fall. However, we did not know the tax hikes would be so sweeping and expansive.

Mr. Rangel has promised that this fall he will host "the mother of all tax bills." His objectives are clear – a sharp tax increase on American families, small businesses, and investors.

Brushing aside warnings from seasoned economists House Democrats, since taking the reigns of power, have done nothing but play petty politics with America's economy. Their reckless actions have already had a negative effect.

House Democrats have tried to hide their failures behind the tired liberal rhetoric of class warfare; yet, the simple reality is that just nine months into Democrat control, you are more likely to be unemployed in America, you are more likely to lose your home, and rising interest rates have made it harder for you to achieve the American Dream.

We may be in the minority, but conservative Republicans are not going to allow these taxes to go through without a fight. With your help, it is a fight I know we can win.

Rather than raising taxes on hardworking American families, why don't the Democrats cut wasteful spending from the massive federal bureaucracy?

The Department of Treasury internally had over $24.5 billion "unreconciled transactions" in one year alone – these are transactions for which auditors cannot account. The bureaucrats spent $25 billion somewhere on something; they don't know who spent it, where it was spent, or what it was spent on.

Given the way the Republican members of congress have been spending money, I do not know how well they can fight this.

It may be time to get back on the phones.

Bush Vetoes SCHIP

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Wednesday vetoed a measure to expand a popular children's health care program, launching the first in a series of major battles with Democrats over domestic spending.

The legislation would have provided an extra $35 billion over five years for the health program, which is administered by the states. Taxes on tobacco products would have been raised to pay for the increase.

The health bill enjoyed bipartisan support. The veto is likely to anger a number in Bush's own Republican Party who fear the issue will cost them votes in the congressional and presidential elections.

Supporters of the bill said it would have helped provide health coverage for some 10 million children.

Bush contended the increase would have expanded the program beyond its original intent of covering low-income children and taken a step toward government-controlled health care.

He has proposed a much smaller increase of $5 billion in the children's health program.

I think this was a good decision by Bush.

Of course Reuters does not think so. But, you already knew that.
